Raleigh Mompreneurs' first conference, Illuminate 2012, is set for this Saturday in Raleigh.
The busy local Facebook group, launched by the also very busy local mom Cary Heise, is a great resource for moms who are business owners as they look to grow their business and connect with others. I have heard from many members who have told me that it's been a really valuable resource for them.

Saturday's conference includes a roster of local moms who will provide all kinds of information about everything from accounting to finding balance to social media and marketing.

While members of the Facebook group get together for networking and sharing, Irene Gouge, owner of Loving Lessons Pediatric Sleep Consulting (featured here on Go Ask Mom this week), was the one to suggest the need for a conference for moms with businesses.

"I think this will give a lot of direction for them," Gouge tells me. "It's a one-day coaching program for moms."

She hopes it will become an annual event.

Speakers include Lori Aveni, owner of My Shoebox Bookkeeper; Gaye Esser, a life coach who works with moms through her business Redefine Balance;  Christy Johnson, owner of Be True Image Design; and Melissa Culbertson, marketing communications consultant and blogger.

"I am working with Mompreneurs to uncover what they have to offer clients and customers by understanding what is unique and special about them," Esser tells me. "By understanding how their talents, experiences, skills and education play into making them different from anyone else, they can begin to see what sets them apart from the competition."

Illuminate 2012 is at Wine and Design, 219 Bickett Blvd., Raleigh. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. The event runs until at least 1 p.m. (or longer depending on how long the networking lasts). Tickets are just $15. Proceeds will be donated to the Christian Women's Job Corps.
