Jabari Devon Davis, of Raleigh, faces federal charges after officials say he attempted to light police car on fire
RALEIGH, N.C. — A 21-year-old Raleigh man is charged with attempting to damage or destroy a police vehicle.

Jabari Devon Davis was arrested Thursday night after officials say he set fire to a police SUV at the Raleigh Police station on 3800 Rock Quarry Road on May 31 around midnight.

The fire at the police station was started by a Hennessey bottle, an FBI press release said. Officials recovered fingerprints from the bottle and determined the print to be connected to Davis. He was previously charged for trespassing in Raleigh.

Davis was interviewed at his home, according to an FBI press release. He told police who interviewed him he was upset with "everything that was going on."

Some City Plaza businesses were vandalized on Sunday night. The windows of restaurant Happy and Hale and Jimmy Johns were broken. A crowd gathered around the Confederate monument in downtown. Some climbed the monument and others painted it with messages including "Black Lives Matter."

Demonstrators set at least two fires in downtown Raleigh amid the chaos. Some fireworks have also been set off. An armed police vehicle was scene on Wilmington Street.

Gov. Roy Cooper said Sunday that 450 members of the National Guard have been activated to assist cities, including Raleigh and Charlotte.

At least 30 people have been arrested in Raleigh since.

Davis was arrested by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and now faces federal charges. He is being held with a $250,000 bond. A court appearance was scheduled for Friday.

The charge carries a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
