Pullen Park's playground is undergoing renovations for the next few weeks, and parts of it may be closed.

City officials tell me that the work includes adding about 3,600 square feet of new poured-in-place rubber surfacing, a new rope climber and chimney climber. The items, both popular parts of the park's sprawling playground, needed replacement because of normal wear and tear.

The playground opened in November 2011 after a massive that shut the park down for almost two years. Work on the playground is expected to be complete at the beginning of December. The kiddie boats also were slated for some repairs this month as well.

If you plan on going, call the park at 919-996-6468 to find out what will be open and closed when you get there. The park is at 520 Ashe Ave. near downtown Raleigh.
