RALEIGH, N.C. — On Tuesday, Wake County residents will have a chance to weigh in on a project impacting a major roadway in Raleigh.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation wants to widen N.C. Highway 50, also known as Creedmoor Road, between Interstate 540 and N.C. Highway 98 in Wake County. Frustrated residents say traffic continues to increase there along with traffic accidents and substantial delays.
The project would widen Creedmoor Road from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided roadway with a raised median. Right now, there are two concepts on the table -- either a traditional roadway with intersections or what's called a reduced conflict intersection corridor, which cuts more than half the potential locations where drivers and pedestrians can collide.
The NCDOT invites the public to share their thoughts Tuesday between 4 and 7 p.m. at the Amran Shriners Club at 11101 Creedmoor Road. A map is available online.

Construction is set to begin in 2024.
