RALEIGH, N.C.Praire Ridge Ecostation is kicking its weekly storytime up a notch with a special beach-themed morning program.

It's 10:30 a.m. to noon, Thursday, July 25, at the ecostation in west Raleigh. Prairie Ridge is the outdoor learning lab of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

During the free program, kids and their adults will enjoy a brief beach story, follow a map to "all our beaches," according to a description, and learn about and experience some of the wonders that wash ashore.

The event includes a variety of stations:

Turtle Beach – Learn about the sea turtles that visit N.C.; help to build a turtle nest.
Motley Beach – View and touch a variety of things that wash ashore, and learn about the animals they came from.
Fossil Cove – Hunt through our enhanced fossil dirt; learn about the many fossils—not just sharks teeth—that can be found in the dirt.
Shelly Seashore – Learn about the variety of mollusks that inhabit our coast; and a bonus, can you figure out what a shark might eat?
Starfish Shore – Learn about a special marine-only group of animals that include starfish, sea urchins, and more.
Misty Harbor – Enjoy misters, watery shells, and beach balls.

Sounds like a fun way to spend a Thursday morning ...

It's at 1671 Gold Star Dr., Raleigh.
