RALEIGH, N.C. — The Poe Center for Health Education's fantastic playground is usually open only for school field trips and special groups and programs. But this weekend, for Poe Center's annual PoeFest, the general public can play and take part in other fun and educational activities.
PoeFest 2019 is 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, at the center, 224 Sunnybrook Rd., Raleigh. The afternoon includes a bike rodeo with free bike helmets (while supplies last), emergency vehicle displays and free dental screenings. Visitors also can check out Poe's teaching garden and kitchen to learn how to make nutritious snacks with fresh vegetables. It's all free and open to the public.

Poe's PlayWELL Park is a one-of-a-kind, body system-themed playground that mixes in various lessons about health and our bodies. Kids can scramble up a skeleton staircase, slide down a red tongue and zip line between ears.

This media cannot be viewed right now.

“Poe is excited to open our doors to the public. Healthy activities, entertainment, and interactive education will be at the core of this fun family event,” says Ann Rollins, Poe's executive director said in a press release.

The event is open to the public. Registration is not required. Just show up!
