Thomas E. Brooks Park in Cary is a big park, spanning 224 acres on Green Level Church Road in western Cary.

The focus here is athletic fields of all kinds. The park is home to the USA Baseball National Training Center, which hosts collegiate teams and tournaments.

But, in the middle of the ball fields, batting cages, basketball courts and soccer fields, there's a playground.

The play equipment is pretty standard. You'll find a nice sand area, along with separate pieces for kids ages 2 to 5 and kids ages 5 to 12. They include places to climb, slides and monkey bars. There are belt and bucket swings. Benches are scattered around the playground. A large covered picnic shelter sits right next to it.

Unfortunately, there's very little cover over the playground, making it a hot place to play in the heat of the summer.

There's plenty of parking (at least when there are no games or practices scheduled). And there are bathrooms within sight of the playground.

For a look at the playground, watch the video.

Go Ask Mom features places to take kids every Friday. For more ideas, check our park and playground reviews and posts on Triangle family destinations.
