The Carolina Panthers have traded for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

Schefter reported that Diontae Johnson has a $3 million roster bonus due Friday that the Carolina Panthers now will pay.

The Panthers will also receive a seventh-round pick from the Steelers.

In return, the Steelers receive cornerback Donte Jackson and a sixth-round pick from the Panthers.

Johnson, 27, provides an offensive target for second-year quarterback Bryce Young.

Johnson is entering the final year of his contract in the 2024 season. In 13 games during the 2023 season, Johnson had 51 receptions on 87 targets for 717 yards and five touchdowns. He was a Pro Bowler in 2021 and has spent his entire career with the Steelers dating back to the 2019 season.

Jackson, 28, played in 16 games in the 2023 season, compiling 59 tackles, one forced fumble and five pass deflections. Injuries limited Jackson to nine games in 2022 and 12 games in 2021.

The Steelers had a void at the cornerback position after releasing Patrick Peterson earlier this offseason. Also, Levi Wallace is an unrestricted free agent.
