North Carolina's zoo and aquariums are offering up some virtual summer camps to keep kids engaged in the coming months.

On Wednesday, the zoo, which usually holds in-person summer camps each year, announced its virtual offerings for rising first graders to rising sixth graders.

"Kids will participate in many of the fun activities traditionally found in our camps, just in a virtual setting," according to a press release. "Activities such as crafts, animal ambassador encounters, behind the scenes with keepers and games are all part of the fun learning experience."

Camps are three hours long and have morning and afternoon options. A one-day camp runs $30. A three-day camp is $80. Topics include Junior Herpetologists, African Adventures and Keeper in Training. The zoo's website has details.

And all three of North Carolina's aquariums will host virtual summer camps. Sessions are designed for rising third graders to fifth graders and rising sixth graders to eighth graders.

The topic is Adventuring Up the Coast. Participants will take part in virtual animal encounters, crafts, games and other activities as they learn about the aquatic creatures who live on our coast. The cost is $120 and includes an hour-long introduction on Mondays and three hours of online activities Tuesdays through Fridays.

More information is on the aquariums' website.
