Fayetteville man killed in robbery; suspect sought

Fayetteville, N.C. — An 18-year-old Fayetteville man is wanted on charges that he shot and killed one man and assaulted another during a robbery at their home shortly after noon Wednesday.
Investigators believe that Christopher Andrew Alexander killed Jason Lee Smith at his 6111 Regis Court home. Emanual Gantlin, 26, who also lives at the house, was assaulted and injured by Alexander, police said.
Alexander is wanted on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempt to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, but there is no cause for public concern.

Alexander was put on probation for a 2007 conviction for communicating threats, according to state Department of Correction records.
