Funeral Set For NCSU Student Killed In Weekend Wreck

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Funeral arrangments have been finalized for a North Carolina State University student killed in a car accident Saturday.

Brandon Sova, 19, was killed in the early-morning wreck on Avent Ferry Road near Chappell Drive in Raleigh.

Visitation will take place Monday night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton.

The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sova, a sophomore from Clayton, was majoring in computer engineering.

"He had everything going for him. He was great in school -- anything pretty much you could want your cousin or your son to be," said Trent Sova, Brandon's cousin.

Grief counselors will be available at N.C. State to help students and faculty deal with his death.

Raleigh police say a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro and 1999 Honda CRV were involved in the crash. Sova was a front-seat passenger in the Camaro. Two passengers in the back seat -- Troy Bradshaw, 20, of Rose Hill, and Bruce Chipa, 20 of Clayton -- are listed in critical condition at WakeMed.

The driver of the Camaro, Victor Rivera, 21, of Clayton, was treated and released.

The driver of the Honda, Michael Keadle, 22, of Raleigh, is in fair condition.

Raleigh police say the cause of the crash is still under investigation, but say it appears one of the cars was going too fast around a curve.
