MLK Statue Committee To Meet This Week To Discuss Options

Posted Updated

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount is laying the groundwork to replace a controversial statue of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Critics say the sculpture does not look anything like the slain civil rights leader. Later this week, the statue committee will meet later in the week to consider a letter to potential artists spelling out the requirements of submitting a proposal.

The City Council will have the final say in the process.
