Raleigh Towing Company Makes Court Appearance

RALEIGH, N.C., JULY 21, 1999 — A Raleigh Towing Company accused of "predatory" practices was back in court Wednesday for a hearing.

Attorney General Mike Easley filed a lawsuit against Brentwood Towing, now known as Action Towing, after dozens of consumer complaints.

Wednesday, the owner's attorney agreed to turn over files requested by the state, and said he is looking forward to telling his client's side of the story in court.

"I think we're in a business where we've never had a satisfied customer. When you tow people's cars, you don't expect people to be happy about it. We've had the situation where we've only heard that side of it," said attorney Joe Howell.

The judge also extended a restraining order to keep Action Towing from engaging in any of the practices alleged in the lawsuit.
