StarBar has been forced to temporarily close following a joint investigation from Raleigh Police and the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Division.
Law enforcement said Thursday that they filed a civil nuisance abatement action against the Raleigh nightclub and its owners. The action is meant to address StarBar's history of controlled substance violations, fights, assaults and shots fired there.

Wake County Superior Court Judge Bryan Collins issued the Temporary Restraining Order against the owners and operators of StarBar. The order closes the bar and prevents the property from being sold. It also requires "all nuisance-related criminal activity cease."
A hearing will be held within the next 10 days where a judge will consider if permanent restrictions are necessary or if the property is fit for its current use.
Law enforcement said they have received a significant amounts of calls for service to the StarBar including 15 shooting incidents since July 2020.
WRAL News has regularly reported on problems with gun violence around the nightclub.
The North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission suspended StarBar's liquor license in 2020 after five incidents of shootings and stabbings on or near the property. It was reinstated in 2021, but suspended again in 2025.
