The North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission on Thursday suspended the liquor license of a Raleigh nightclub where a rapper's car and multiple vehicles were shot at over the weekend.
It is not the first time that StarBar, near the intersection of Trawick Road and New Bern Avenue, has lost its liquor license.

The order for suspension was accompanied by 13 affidavits from Raleigh police and StarBar neighbors, all of which concluded with the same sentence: "Based on the general reputation of the property, its owners and many of the people who frequent the property, I believe the property is detrimental to the community."

"During the suspension, it is illegal to sell or serve alcohol at this establishment," said Bryan House, director of ALE. "We hope this suspension will prevent future violence and have a positive impact on the surrounding community."
WRAL News has regularly reported on problems with gun violence around the nightclub.
The shots fired early Sunday morning marked the 17th reported incident on the property in the past 12 months, Raleigh police data shows. Over that time period -- from April 2024 to April 2025 -- there have been 93 calls for service to that location.
This is the second time in the last six years that the nightclub had its liquor license suspended. In 2020, the bar lost its license after five incidents of shootings and stabbings on or near the property.
That license was reinstated in May 2021.
