WRAL's annual Coats for the Children telethon raised nearly $66,000 for the Salvation Army Friday.

That is about $10,000 more than last year.

All the money raised is used to buy new winter clothing for children in the Triangle.

Donations of coats, hats, gloves and cash are still being accepted through Dec. 31 at all Triangle-area Jiffy Lube and Capital Bank branches.
