WILSON, N.C. — City officials will dedicate the Paul V. Berry Hickory Grove Park at 11 a.m. Monday.

The park, at the corner of Kenan and Pine streets, is Wilson's first public park downtown. The green-space area includes new trees, mature trees, concrete and brick accents and a cascading fountain.

The park also features several one-of-a-kind whirligigs, wind-driven works of art created by local artist Vollis Simpson.

The park is named for Berry, a long-time Wilson resident whose donation helped make the area possible.
