Arts groups seek first Piedmont Laureate
As laureate, the poet will offer workshops and public readings throughout the area that celebrate the art of writing.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — Four Triangle arts associations have joined forces to name one Piedmont Laureate.
The City of Raleigh Arts Commission, Durham Arts Council, Orange County Arts Commission and United Arts Council of Raleigh & Wake County will name a poet to the laureate position for 2008-09. In future years, other artists will be invited to apply for the position.
As laureate, the poet will offer workshops and public readings throughout the area that celebrate the art of writing.
Poets can apply to be the first Piedmont Laureate on line. The deadline is Aug. 29.
