ASHEBORO, N.C. — The North Carolina Zoo will hold Amphibian Awareness Day Saturday, April 28, in an effort to raise awareness of the rapid disappearance of frog species worldwide.
The event will be held in conjunction with the fourth annual Save The Frogs Day, which has inspired at least 150 events in 25 countries. The events were coordinated by SAVE THE FROGS!, a California-based nonprofit dedicated to amphibian conservation.

Games, information tables and activities will be part of the event, which is free with a paid zoo admission. Prices are listed below:

  • Adults: $12
  • Children (2-12): $8
  • Seniors (62+) and college students: $10

Amphibian populations have been declining worldwide at unprecedented rates: nearly one-third of the world's amphibian species are threatened and as many as 200 species have disappeared in recent years.
