Fayetteville police arrest a man in connection with a hit-and-run and officer-involved shooting.

Officers arrested Joseph Sellers, 26, on Friday. Police said his arrest comes after Sellers was accused of leading officers on a chase in a stolen car on Tuesday, May 12.

Officers said Sellers came to a stop on May 12 in a neighborhood near Ramsey Street. When officers began to approach the car, police said he then sped off near them, hitting several objects, before two officers shot at the car. Both officers were placed on  administrative leave, police said.

Sellers drove further in the neighborhood before crashing, police said.

He faces several charges, including:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon on a government official
    • Possession of stolen goods
      • Possession of a stolen motor vehicle
        • Larceny of a motor vehicle
          • Obtaining property by false pretenses
            • Breaking and entering a motor vehicle
              • Financial card theft
                • Damage to real property
                  • Speeding to elude arrest
                    • Hit and run
                      • Careless/reckless driving
                        • Driving with a revoked license
                          • Failure to stop for a steady red light

                            Authorities are holding Sellers on a $230,000 bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center.

                            Officers said the investigation is ongoing.
