Fayetteville police are investigating after officers fired shots at a person accused of leading police on a chase in a stolen car and a hit-and-run.
Police said officers first noticed a stolen car around 11:24 p.m. on Tuesday on Country Club Drive near Murchison Road. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver did not stop and led officers on a chase into a neighborhood near the Ramsey Street intersection.

Officers said the driver came to a stop on a road in the neighborhood. When officers began to walk toward the car, police said the driver then sped off near the officers, hitting several objects. Two officers shot at the car.
The suspect drove further into the neighborhood before crashing and causing significant damage to a home, police said. The driver then got out and ran away from the scene.
Police said officers conducted an extensive search on the ground and using aerial support overnight Tuesday and throughout the day on Wednesday, but did not find the driver. Officers said their goal was to find the suspect to make sure they were safe and to determine if they were hurt.
Police said no officers were injured during the pursuit. It is unclear if the suspect was injured.
The two officers who fired their guns were placed on administrative leave, police said.
Police have not released the names of anyone involved. Officers ask anyone who lives in the Frost Drive, Hastings Drive and Country Club Drive areas to review any home surveillance devices that may have captured video around the time of the incident.
