Fayetteville Mayor Mitch Colvin will seek reelection after all.

The State Board of Elections’ website shows Colvin filed his paperwork on Friday.

Friday’s news is a reversal of Colvin’s announcement in June that he wouldn’t run for a fifth term.

Colvin is Fayetteville's longest serving Black mayor. He's been in the job since 2017. 

Ten candidates are running for Fayetteville mayor: Colvin, Josh Ashford, Courtney Banks-McLaughlin, Mario [Be] Benavente, Freddie de la Cruz, Kathy Keefe Jensen, Clifton Johnson, Nahlee Iris Smith, Tisha S. Waddell and Paul A. Williams.

The filing period for Fayetteville’s nonpartisan mayoral race ended at noon Friday. The primary election is scheduled for Oct. 7, and the general election is Nov. 4.
