Owner of Blue Jade Spa in Pittsboro charged with promoting prostitution

One of the owners of Blue Jade Spa in Pittsboro was arrested after a months-long investigation into alleged illegal sex activity and potential human trafficking.

The Pittsboro Police Department said Chao Li, 37, is charged with promoting prostitution, aiding and abetting prostitution, unlicensed practice of massage/body work and advertising without a license.

Li, who lives in Garner, was arrested by the Johnston County Sheriff's Office.

WRAL News previously reported that Pittsboro police  received a report in October 2025 that accused Blue Jade Spa of operating illegally.

Li posted a $3,000 bond on the misdemeanor charge, but is being held in jail for the felony promoting prostitution charge. He is scheduled to appear in Chatham County Court on April 22.

Pittsboro Police said the case remains under active investigation.
