New holiday light show to open at Raleigh golf course

A south Raleigh golf course is turning into a massive holiday light show starting this weekend.
Santa's Holiday Light Show will open at 401 Par Golf, 5715 Fayetteville Rd. just south of downtown, on Friday and is planned to run through the end of the year. David Kristan, Par Golf's general manager, tells me they're stringing up 500,000 lights on more than 200 displays. The Holiday Light Store, a Raleigh business, is behind the event. Owners Lin and Cindy Honeycutt opened the store in 2004 and have dreamed of launching a major light show like this.
The light show spreads out across 401 Par Golf, which includes a golf course and miniature golf. The mini golf course has been decorated for the holidays. And a hayride winds through the golf course, around a lake and along some rolling hills. The ride takes about half an hour. And the mini golf course will take another 30 minutes to play. And, of course, Santa will be there. Kristan said they may also add some other attractions or rides.
Children four and under are free. Kids 8 and under are $4. And adults are $8. Group discounts are available. Hamburgers, funnel cakes, French fries, plus apple cider, hot chocolate and retro candy will be for sale. It will be open Thursdays through Sundays from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. (though note that it's opening Friday this week).
Both Meadow Lights and Lake Myra Christmas opened this past weekend. Lights on the Neuse opens on Friday. Click on the links for details.
