ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Those who lost their jobs when fire destroyed the QVC factory and warehouse in Rocky Mount last year will get first-pick at a job fair hosted by the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles.

The job fair will be held Tuesday at the NCDMV's Rocky Mount headquarters at 1405 North Church St. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The first hour of the event will be reserved exclusively for former QVC employees, who will get to meet hiring managers.

The NCDMV has more than 100 available jobs, including driver license examiners, law enforcement inspectors, program coordinators and more.

The job fair opens to the public at 10 a.m. Registration is recommended.
Those interested in a job with the NCDMV are encouraged to look at available positions and apply online before attending the event.

Applicants are asked to bring copies of their resumes. There will be a food truck on site.

More than 1,900 employees lost their jobs when QVC made the decision to close their massive warehouse. One workers was killed in the December fire.

More than a quarter of NCDMV employees did not stay with the agency when the DMV moved its headquarters from Raleigh to Rocky Mount in 2020.

The longtime DMV headquarters on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh was found to have asbestos contamination, so the agency was ordered to find a new location, and state lawmakers required the DMV to take the lowest bid offered. That offer came from Rocky Mount, about an hour east of Raleigh.
