For those evacuating to North Carolina from counties affected by Hurricane Dorian, the North Carolina Zoo has a special offer starting today, Wednesday, Sept. 4, to Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Evacuees from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia can take advantage of the half-price rate on zoo admission by showing a valid ID with current address, according to a zoo press release.

The zoo is in Asheboro about 90 minutes from Raleigh. Without the discount, admission is usually $15 for adults ages 13 to 61; $11 for kids ages 2 to 12; and $13 for seniors ages 62 and up.

With 500 developed acres, the zoo is the world's largest natural habitat zoo and one of two state-supported zoos, according to the zoo's website.
