Museum of Life and Science plans Sensory Friendly Science night

The after-hours event is designed for families with sensory-processing challenges. The museum will be open that night exclusively to visitors with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related sensory challenges and their families.

The Museum of Life and Science in Durham will host a Sensory Friendly Science night from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., July 13.

Tickets, which only are available on the evening of the event, are $8 for both kids and adults.

The after-hours event is designed for families with sensory-processing challenges. The museum will be open that night exclusively to visitors with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related sensory challenges and their families.

According to the museum's website, activities will include:

  • Access to all indoor exhibits
  • Access to the Butterfly House, Dinosaur Trail, Farmyard, and Hideaway Woods
  • A sensory-friendly train ride on the Ellerbe Creek Railway. Train tickets will be $3.

Staff and volunteers from UNC TEACCH Autism Program will be available to greet and help museum visitors.
