Morehead Planetarium Skywatching

Morehead Planetarium and Science Center will host a free skywatching session at Dorothea Dix Park near downtown Raleigh.

Staff and volunteers will set up telescopes to view stars and the moon. Educators will be on hand to guide you through the various celestial objects in view.

It's 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Nov. 19, at the park. It's free and informal - you can pop in at any time. Registration, however, is required through Eventbrite.

Some things to know if you go, according to the event page:

It's designed for all ages, but very young children may not have much fun looking through a telescope. Grade schoolers and up should have more fun. (But parents are encouraged to look through the telescope first so they can help their kids).

Leave pets at home.

The sign-up page has more details.
