Man charged in fatal Harnett County home invasion

A 22-year-old Cameron man has been charged with committing a home invasion and shooting a Harnett County man to death Friday afternoon.

CAMERON, N.C. — A 22-year-old Cameron man has been charged with committing a home invasion and shooting a Harnett County man to death Friday afternoon.

Lamonte Tiffany Brower, of Cameron faces a charge of homicide in the death of Adekoya Nixon, 22, of Cameron. Brower was also charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, breaking-and-entering and two counts of kidnapping.

Sheriff's deputies found Nixon dead inside his mobile home at 95 Windsong Drive. Searchers later found Brower, who had also been shot, in nearby woods.

Brower was treated at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. He was transferred to the Harnett County Detention Center, where he was being held without bond Saturday.

Details of the shooting haven't been released, but a witness WRAL News that a man came to the Windsong Drive residence with a weapon and demanded money. An altercation broke out, and guns were fired.

State Department of Correction records show that Brower was on probation for a 2008 conviction for common-law robbery in Forsyth County.
