Go Ask Mom: How did Earth Kissed Beauty get its start? What weren't you finding at the store that you needed or wanted?
Kristin Pridgen: Earth-Kissed Beauty was founded to combine my passion for clean living with my experience in public health. I was working full time as a health educator while, on the side, blogging about my holistic health journey. With my focus on clean living, I wanted to improve my personal care routine by using products that were clean, gentle yet effective on my sensitive skin. I started making body butter and immediately noticed its effects. Hello silky, smooth skin!

I was confident others would benefit from clean and fresh skincare, but I noticed a lack of education around clean skincare and a limited amount of personal care products that were 100% clean, made fresh, and accessibly priced. With those points in mind, I launched Earth-Kissed Beauty to make clean and fresh skincare products available to the masses.

GAM: What all do you offer and where can people find your products?
KP: Each of our products are handcrafted with only natural and organic ingredients. They are 100% clean, which means there are no harmful chemicals, fillers, synthetic fragrance or preservatives in them. Our line includes bodycare products (body butters, sugar scrubs), hair products (beard balm, hair oil), and an array of facial products (cleanser, moisturizer, masks).
Shop our full line on our website and shop our select products in the following local stores: The Market at Three Little Birds, Adventures in Bloom, Sugar Magnolia Café, and Indie Goods Market.
GAM: What's been the biggest challenge as you launched your business?
KP: Entrepreneurship is definitely a roller coaster experience. Some days are fantastic, and others can be a drag. The ability to get through those slumps can be very tough at times, but we’re still here! Thankfully, I have a strong support system, and I’m able to view the setbacks as learning opportunities that help me successfully propel forward.
GAM: What do you love about running your own business?
KP: I love the vast possibilities with having my own business. There’s a sense of comfort in knowing I can plan the trajectory of the business and my role in it. I also adore the small business community. It is truly a pleasure to connect with and support other entrepreneurs in the area.

GAM: What's your hope for the future of Earth-Kissed Beauty?
KP: I look forward to Earth-Kissed Beauty being an internationally recognized brand that has met its mission of making clean skincare available for all. Expect to see us in larger stores and expanding our educational side of our business with more workshops and series.
