Looking for free indoor fun? Check out this list of indoor activities at Raleigh parks
It looks like the rain may actually stop this week, but in case it's wet or cold or nasty or, eventually, blazing hot outside, Raleigh parks shared indoor activities inside city parks.
Posted — UpdatedIt's a great list with some good reminders about all of the activities and destinations that Raleigh offers. Best of all, everything is free.
Here's the list, courtesy of Raleigh's website.
6 things to do indoors with Raleigh parks
Walnut Creek Wetland Center
Just south of downtown Raleigh, this environmental center offers all kinds of nature books for kids and adults, seasonal crafts and activities, a "groundhog burrow" that kids can crawl through, and an opportunity to dig through a log hotel to find beetles, roly-polys or millipedes. There's also a small collection of creatures - a tree frog, box turtle and snakes.
Annie Louise Wilkerson, MD Nature Preserve
This gorgeous spot in north Raleigh has outdoor and indoor activities, including hands-on displays and a craft table in the park office. You can learn more about local wildlife through lifelike puppets, kind furs and models of animal skulls and feet too. And kids can meet Cornelius, the corn snake.
City of Raleigh Museum
Kids can try on World War II uniforms, examine artifacts, try using a typewriter and explore the galleries at the downtown Raleigh museum.
Go on a scavenger hunt at Abbotts Creek Community Center
Ask at the front desk at this north Raleigh community center for a scavenger hunt. When you finish, you'll win a prize. There's also a small and shaded playground just outside.
Tot Times
Parks across the city offer free Tot Times for toddlers and preschoolers. Hang out in the gym with other kids and their parents. Park staff will put out balls and other equipment to play with.
