DURHAM, N.C. — After 11 years in business, Café Meridian is searching for a new home.

Owner Rich Kazazian told WRAL this week that he has until March 31 to vacate the space at 2500 Meridian Parkway in Durham. The restaurant's lease was officially up Aug. 31, 2019, but Kazazian said he had been having conversations with the building's owners, Accesso Partners, to extend his lease another five years and possibly open a Neapolitan pizza place next door. He said he was shocked to receive a notice in October that his business would need to leave by the end of March.

"I am here over 10 years and all I want to do is modernize the restaurant," he said.

Kazazian said he started scrambling to find a new place to move the business and found a place nearby, but he would have to build the restaurant.

Accesso Partners did not elaborate on why the lease wasn't renewed or what would be moving into the space. They released a statement saying, “For business reasons, we have decided not to renew the lease with Café Meridian. We cannot comment further on our plans for the space at this time."
