Reaction from state leaders are pouring in regarding the tense moments inside the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday and on Joe Biden's certification as President-elect.

“It disgusts me when I see violence,” McCrory said. “Mob rule and violence is unacceptable. I’ve expressed that when it’s happened in Raleigh and Charlotte [and] Greensboro. It’s even more unacceptable at The People’s House. It’s inexcusable.”

McCrory said that, on top of the assaults to the U.S. Capitol, actions against the police are even more disturbing. He added his assertion that what happens moving forward will define us as a nation.

“This is where we have to be strong together and speak together in one voice, Republicans and Democrats, and demand that we have a peaceful transition in power,” McCrory said.

Republican Sen. Richard Burr also weighed in, denouncing President Trump’s actions in a written statement.

“The President bears responsibility for today’s events by promoting the unfounded conspiracy theories that have led to this point,” Burr said. “It is past time to accept the will of American voters and to allow our nation to move forward.”

Rep. David Price agrees, saying what happened in Washington was not the American way.

“To have, not just people saying this, but actually violently coming in and trying to intimidate, it is something we have never seen and certainly something we never hope to see,” Price said.

McCrory also said he is urging the president to participate in a peaceful transition and that the Constitution is bigger than any individual or politician.

On Thursday, Congressman G. K. Butterfield reacting to the results of the vote, saying America has spoke, Representative Ted Budd from Davie County said he wouldn’t let a violent mob stop him from giving a voice to North Carolinians.

Congresswoman Kathy Manning even called for Trump's impeachment.

At least five of North Carolina’s congressman voted not to certify the electoral college results that came in just before 4 a.m. declaring Joe Biden and Kamala Harris winners of the 2020 election.
