CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Kidzu Children's Museum will open a little bit later to the general public on Wednesdays starting this week.

The Chapel Hill children's museum will open at 1 p.m., Wednesdays, starting Feb. 19.

In an email, the museum said it was updating its Wednesday hours to better accommodate local schools. Kidzu is a popular stop for school field trips.

Kidzu will return to its usual hours on Wednesdays — 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. — during the summer season, which runs from  Memorial Day to Labor Day.

The museum, which offers lots of hands-on play and activities for kids ages 0 to 8, extended its Wednesday hours two years ago in response to feedback from museum fans. The museum closes at 7 p.m., Wednesdays, instead of 5 p.m.

Here are the new hours for Kidzu: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday through Saturday; 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday; and, now 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday. The museum is closed Mondays.

Kidzu is inside University Place at 201 S. Estes Dr.
