RALEIGH, N.C. — In July, WRAL anchor Ken Smith and his wife, Amanda, welcomed an 11-pound little baby boy named Franklin!

Ken has an adult son who is in his early 30s, so he is doing this fatherhood thing for the second time.

"It's been a long time, so when people say I've done this before, yeah. It's been so long, it's all very new to me," Ken told Go Ask Mom. "And in that regard as a mature dad, I have such a deeper appreciation for this opportunity to be Franklin's dad."

In July, WRAL anchor Ken Smith and his wife, Amanda, welcomed a 11-pound little baby boy named Franklin.

Little Frankie wasn't very little when he was born. Ken said they had no use for newborn or three month clothing. By six weeks, Frankie was wearing six month-sized clothing.

"The good thing about him being a big baby is that he started sleeping longer, sooner, so that made a huge difference, especially for Amanda, because she's the one mainly who has to get up in the middle of the night because she's breastfeeding," Ken said.

Ken is getting lots of baby time, including some fun "chats" with Frankie who loves to babble. The baby has also recently started smiling.

"When he shows you a smile, it absolutely melts your heart. And he's doing that more often," Ken said. "To see him from the minute he came out into this world and to watch him grow up, I am so excited about that opportunity."
