Hill Ridge Farms in Youngsville might be best known for its fall hayrides, pumpkin patch and activities, but it's also open in the spring and summer.

Jennifer Dunn, Hill Ridge's events manager, tells me that the farm has reopened for the spring season. This year, they've brought back the Welcome Wednesday deal where visitors get one free adult admission with the purchase of every child's admission.

They also are looking forward to opening up a big new splash pad on Memorial Day weekend. It will be open through September and included in the general admission. I hope to have more about that as it gets closer.

Hill Ridge is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekends. General admission is $7 for ages 2 to 12 and $5 for ages 13 and up.

Activities include a giant slide, moon bounce, jumping pillow, farm animals, fish feeding dock, colorful maze, hay jump, corn playhouse and swings. There are extra costs for the train ride, hayride, gem panning and pony rides (which happen only on Saturdays).

Hill Ridge is at 703 Tarboro Rd., Youngsville. It's about 30 minutes northeast of central Raleigh.
