Her Spark, a local nonprofit that works to encourage more girls and women to follow STEM careers, will host a summer summit in July for high school girls, ages 14 to 18.

The Her Spark Summer Summit will take place at the Wake Tech RTP campus from July 22 to July 26. Participants will explore engineering, coding, technology and other STEM topics. They'll also enjoy "day in the life" experiences by connecting with seasoned professionals to recognize how these skills can apply to different career paths, according to a description.

The cost for the full week, which runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, is $100. Girls can apply online through June 15. Participants must live within the counties of Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Nash, Orange, Wake, or Wilson. Lunch and snacks will be provided each day.

More information is on Her Spark's website.
