MORRISVILLE, N.C. — Her Spark, a local group that aims to equip girls with the STEM skills and opportunities to succeed in the careers of tomorrow, according to its website, will host a minimum-cost, seven hour-long coding session, called Her Spark Python Ignite Event, to teach high school girls practical coding languages and STEM skills.

The event, which will focus on hands-on activities while students learn Python, a programming language, takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Dec. 1, at Cisco Systems' RTP campus. The event is for high school students who self identify as girls or female. No experience is required, but space is limited. The cost is $20. If you're interested, it's best to apply as soon as possible.

Her Spark founders, professional women and business leaders, are dedicated to solving gender disparity in computer science, engineering and technology careers, its website says. Her Spark held a week-long coding summit in July.

More more information and registration details about the December event are on Her Spark's website.
