RALEIGH, N.C. — A special produce box is helping to support small and beginning farmers in North Carolina.
Cape Fear Farm Credit (CFFC), AgCarolina Farm Credit, and The Produce Box have created the Young, Beginning and Small Farmer Box, which includes local products grown by local farmers who are all considered young, beginning or small farmers.

These boxes contain a mix of vegetables, ground meat, fresh cheese and more.

When you get your box, scan the QR code included inside to learn more about the farmers behind your box.

We got a box and it included fresh ground pork, feta cheese, cucumbers, squash, pumpkin, sweet potatoes and zucchini.

For each box sold Cape Fear Farm Credit and Ag Carolina Farm Credit will donate a box to those who are in need. You can buy a box on The Produce Box's website through Sept. 16. Use coupon code CFFC15 to save $15 on your order.

Note that The Produce Box is a membership program, so you have to be a member to order. New members will pay a $25 membership fee.

You can hear more about the box on this week's Out and About Podcast!
