Along a similar vein as last week's Help a Mom question about summer jobs for teens, this mom is wondering what to do with her 13-year-old son this summer:
I'm wondering what other moms do with 13-year-old boys for the summer. The 14-year-olds can work at certain parks, etc., but 13-year-olds are too old for track out camps that are designed for the younger crowd. Since he's headed to high school, I have him home for about eight weeks rather than the usual four with our year round schedule. We're in Holly Springs and I do work, although I'm in real estate with a flexible schedule. I'm already paying almost $500 for a week of Boy Scout adventures and the other sleep away camps are almost twice that per week. I'm dying to find out what others do when money matters. Leaving them home alone all day is not an option. Video and TV all day is not the responsible choice.
