RALEIGH, N.C. — The holidays are here if you are anything like me then you have been thinking about what gifts you are going to purchase this holiday season.

You will probably be hit with some many different ads from large retailers like Amazon and while this is okay, I wanted to share a few businesses in downtown Raleigh that you can shop at for the holiday season. Most places you can purchase a gift card from while others you may want to walk around and see what you can find. Either way these businesses have a little bit of something for everyone:

Adara Spa (608 W Peace St.) - Adara Spa is a full-service spa offering manicures, pedicures, waxing, massages and so much more. Gift cards are always best for spa’s because it gives the receiver the option to customize their experience.
Anne’s Apothecary (206 S Wilmington St.) - Anne’s Apothecary is a new skincare store in Downtown Raleigh. Anne’s offers a variety of products from skincare to candles. Here are the products I would recommend: Black Honey Cleanser, Soaps, and her City of Oaks candle.
Azurelise Chocolate (702 N Boylan Ave.) - Azurelise Chocolate is a gourmet chocolate shop. Their chocolates would be such a sweet surprise under the tree or the perfect stocking stuffer.
Black Friday Market (23 W Hargett St.) - Black Friday Market is your one-stop shop for all things Black Owned. They carry a variety of products ranging from candles to clothing. I think a gift card would be the perfect gift from this establishment.
Nail Yeah! (22 Glenwood Ave #1) - Nail Yeah! offers a variety of nail experiences. A gift card would be a great way to love someone well.
One of One Boutique (207 E Cabarrus St.) - One of One Boutique is perfect for any sneaker head. If your loved one has put a pair of sneakers on their Christmas list or some sort of apparel, be sure to check their inventory. If all else fails a gift card to this boutique would be best.
SirCastleTees (610 W S. St.) - SirCastleTees is a customizable shoe store in Downtown Raleigh. This store is perfect for anyone who wants a unique pair of sneakers. If you know the specific sneaker or gear your person wants this is the perfect place but I would lean more towards a gift card.
Social Status (308 Parham St.) - Social is a high-end shoe store that carries major brands. I have had the pleasure of shopping for her on multiple occasions. If you are unsure what your loved one wants, I would highly recommend getting a gift card.
Zen Succulent (208 S Wilmington St.) - Zen Succulent is perfect for any plant lover. They offer a variety of plants and so much more. If you are unsure what plant to get, just grab a gift card.

On this list I specially placed things that are perfect for the holidays, but I wanted to include a few other Black-owned businesses that you can check out downtown:

  • Artikle 74
  • Blalock’s Barber and Beauty Salon
  • City Market Barber and Style Shop
  • Crema
  • Glenwood South Tailor and Alterations
  • Hair Creations
  • Nicholson’s Barber and Style
  • Oak City Fish and Chips
  • Oro Restaurant and Lounge
  • Posh Hair Concepts
  • Salon RG
  • Sweet Tea Cornbread Grill and Eatery
  • The McNeil Studio – Gift Card for Lessons

As you are considering your shopping this holiday season be sure to check out the spots listed above. I would recommend following them and sharing their stores on your social media accounts. Happy Shopping!
