CLAYTON, N.C. β€” A Garner man has been arrested and is facing first degree murder charges in the death of a man found in a crashed vehicle on April 9.

Clayton police arrested Dallas Lamar Phillips, 20, of Hogan Drive in Garner. He is charged with the murder of Dustin Rogister, who was found dead in a vehicle that crashed and knocked out power to an area of Clayton. Phillips is in the Johnston County jail under no bond.

Rogister, of High Chaparral Drive in Clayton, was found dead from a stab wound inside a vehicle that had crashed into a power pole. The crash happened at the intersection of Cameron Way and Shotwell Road. Emergency responders tried to provide help after Duke Energy cut off power. When they saw Rogister had died of a stab wound, homicide detectives were called in to investigate.

Detectives believe Rogister and Phillips knew each other, but at this time, exactly what lead up to the murder is not confirmed.
