Funeral service held for late Lufkin Road Middle School principal
A celebration of life service is planned at 5 p.m. at Summit Church at 3000 Lufkin Road in Apex.

APEX, N.C. — A funeral was held Sunday for Lufkin Middle School Principal Karen Sinders, who died unexpectedly last week at the school.
Sinders’ family received guests from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Summit Church at 3000 Lufkin Road in Apex. A celebration of life service was planned at 5 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family has asked for memorial contributions to the Apex Education Foundation.
It's not currently known how Sinders died.
