RALEIGH, N.C. — The Southern Women's Show makes its annual stop in Raleigh this weekend. Running Friday through Sunday at the NC State Fairgrounds, the event offers all kinds of opportunities to check out the latest in fashion, makeup, home decor and more.

Lots of women grab their friends and make it a girls' day out, but many bring along their kids too. If you're taking kids, here are a few activities to look out for.

Fido Fashion Show

A fun dog fashion show featuring adoptable pets from the Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue. It's 3 p.m., Friday, April 12; 4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 13 and 3 p.m.; Sunday, April 14.

Dancing Like the Stars Competition

Local celebrities are paired with professional dancers from the Fred Astaire dance studio to raise money for the National Inclusion Project. It's 3 p.m., Saturday, April 13.

WRAL SmartShopper

Faye Prosser, WRAL's SmartShopper, will be on the Spotlight Stage at 12:30 p.m., Friday, April 12, with tips for ways to cut your grocery bill in half.

Mother-Daughter Day

Sunday, April 14, is Mother Daughter Day. Here's what's scheduled, courtesy of the event's Facebook page.

  • Be on the lookout for pink bags filled with a special surprise in honor of Mother Daughter Day. If you find a bright pink bag, open it to find out what you won.
  • Head to the Fashion & Entertainment Stage at 1:15 p.m. to cheer on your favorite pair in the Mother Daughter Look-Alike Contest.
  • Sing with your favorite princesses on the Spotlight Stage at 1:30 p.m. thanks to costumed performers from Fairytale Dreamer-Princess Parties & Special Events.
  • Check out the Ms. Full Figured NC Pageant's full-figured fashion show at 4 p.m. on the Fashion & Entertainment Stage.

Celebrity Guests

  • Monte Durham from TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress will be there at 1 p.m., Friday, April 12.
  • Tyson Beckford from Ralph Lauren Model and now movie producer will be there 1 p.m., Saturday, April 13.
  • Jenna Cooper from the Bachelor will be there at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 13.
  • Taylor Hicks from American Idol will be on the Food Lion Kitchen Stage cooking at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, April 13.
