If you have a child like my son, then he/she would think the chance to fly a model airplane would be pretty close to nirvana. You can make their dreams come through this Saturday, July 26, at the Cliffdale Regional Branch of the Cumberland County Library! The Piedmont Aeromodelers will show off their planes and take questions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They’ll even have a flight simulator in the library’s activity room! For more information, call 910-864-3800

Kids can keep up with their summer learning by enjoying a guided tour of Fayetteville’s Civil War milestones, sponsored by the Museum of the Cape Fear, at 2 p.m., Friday, July 25. F
While you’re put shopping for school supplies (already!), why not pick up some stuff for the less fortunate?  It's a great way to show your kids how lucky they are, and how important it is to extend a hand to others. The Cumberland County Register of Deeds is collecting items, hoping to provide school supplies for more than 700 school kids. Donations will be collected through Aug. 1, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Room 114 of the Cumberland County courthouse. For more info, go to the Cumberland Count Register of Deeds website.
