Fayette-Mom takes a stand: No glue sticks, glitter, board games this week

Spring break is late this year. And it feels like winter outside. Jennifer is taking a little break from some of the tedious side of parenting this week.

Mama is a bit fried this week.

Maybe it’s the fact that spring break is so late this year, and all of our teacher workdays were lost to trace amounts of winter precipitation.

Perhaps it’s because I hosted a sleepover for my daughter that involved very little sleep on my part.

It may have something to do with the fact that it’s currently 38 degrees outside and I am so sick of winter clothes, I just want to cry.

Anyway, I’m waving the white flag this week, especially with my kids. Yes, I will feed you. OK, I’ll make sure you are bathed and have clean clothes. I’ll even help with homework, as I know I must.

But playing board games that never seem to end unless someone is in tears? No.

Pushing you on the swing, even though you are old enough to do it yourself, with several years removed? Not going to happen.

Anything involving paint, glue sticks or glitter is strictly prohibited in the next several days.

Believe me, it’s for the good of all involved.

I am, however, passing out all the hugs and kisses you could ever want. So please children, feel free to help yourself.

It’s about the only thing I am looking forward to this week.
