Durham Public Schools will host two Welcome to Kindergarten sessions for families with rising kindergartners.

They are scheduled for 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 15, (that's today), and 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Jan. 22. They'll take place at the DPS Staff Development Center, 2107 Hillandale Rd., Durham.

The sessions are a chance to learn more about kindergarten at Durham Public Schools. There will be representatives from the before and afterschool programs; the lunch program; nursing staff in case your child will need medication or has other health issues; along with teachers, school staff and more.

Now is the time to start thinking about where your rising kindergartners will go to school in Durham and in other school systems across the region, including Wake County (where kindergarten registration begins today).
