The Museum of Life and Science in Durham will extend its hours this Friday for a family-friendly end-of-summer block party.

It's 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the museum on Murray Avenue. Admission will be $7 per person. Kids ages 2 and under are free. Tickets are available for purchase on the day of the event only.

The main building will be closed during the event, but, as Life and Science fans know, there is plenty to keep you busy beyond that. Museum goers can dig for fossils along the Dinosaur Trail, cool off at Into the Mist and explore the farmyard and Magic Wings Butterfly House, among many other activities.

The evening also includes kids crafts, live music by the Bulltown Strutters and local food trucks and a beer tent. Train rides also will be available for an additional fee.

Sounds like a great way to wear out the kids before bedtime and explore a good part of the museum for a reduced admission!
