DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham chef is competing on The Food Network Tuesday night.
Pizzeria Toro Chef de Cuisine Marla Thurman will be on the network's popular culinary completion show "Chopped" on Tuesday. The episode airs at 9 p.m., and Pizzeria Toro is hosting at viewing party at its bar.
Chef and owner Gray Brooks opened the wood-fired pizza restaurant in 2012. Thurman has been Chef de Cuisine there since 2016.
"Chopped" features four chefs competing to make a three-course meal from a collection of provided ingredients. After each round, one chef is eliminated.
Tuesday's episode is called "Give It a Nest." Here is the synopsis from the Food Network:
Four bold contenders stride into the Chopped Kitchen with winning on their minds. If the tri-tip in the first basket doesn't trip them up, the edible bird's nest just might. Stinging nettles threaten to hurt the competitors' chances for success in round two, and the two finalists must make good use of a dairy delicacy in their desserts.
