DURHAM, N.C. — One of the Durham Performing Arts Center's popular holiday shows is Hip Hop Nutcracker, a national production that stops here each year. A live performance isn't possible this year. But DPAC will offer a virtual viewing of the event, which is described as a "contemporary dance spectacle" that's set to Tchaikovsky's famous score.

Here's a description:

A unique and joyful event, this evening-length production is performed by a supercharged cast of a dozen all-star dancers, a DJ, a violinist, and MC Kurtis Blow, one of hip hopʼs founding fathers, who opens the show with a short set.
Just like the original, in The Hip Hop Nutcracker, Maria-Clara and the Nutcracker Prince go on a dream adventure battling a gang of mice, visiting the land of sweets and learning the lessons of the holiday season. Innovative digital graffiti and visuals transform the landscape of E.T.A. Hoffmannʼs beloved story from traditional 19th Century Germany to the vibrant, diverse sights and sounds of contemporary New York City.

Here's a trailer ...

The virtual program, which will be recorded live at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, will take place at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12. (Note the updated date.) Tickets are $20 and get you the permission to watch the show from your own home. A VIP ticket, which is $50, includes on demand access, an autographed show poster and live talkback after the show.

You can purchase your ticket for the performance offered through DPAC via Stellar Tickets.
